3. WILL THERE BE AN ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR SHS / COLLEGE?
   This coming academic year, there will be NO ENTRANCE EXAMS. You may enroll directly!
4. WHAT SCHOLARSHIPS DO YOU OFFER?
   mini传媒 is offering a Special Academic Scholarship Grant.The grant has the following provisions:80% tuition fee discount for students who has a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 95% and above with no grades lower than 90% in all academic subjects including PE subjects;

   40% tuition fee discount for students who has a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 92% and above with no grades lower than 90% in all academic subjects including PE subjects; and

   Students who wish to avail of the grant must come from a school with at least eighty (80) graduates/completers in the batch.

5. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
   Our main campus is located at Fr. Selga Street, Brgy 5-A, Davao City. It is also commonly known as the mini传媒 Bankerohan Campus.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR OFFICE HOURS?
   We are open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
7. WILL YOU HAVE FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES?
   For our College Department, there will be limited face-to-face during the 1st semester but only for selected essential laboratory courses and exams. In the 2nd semester, we will have a HyFlex setup.
8. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS?

Dubbed 鈥淢indanao Natural (MinNa) Language Processing (LProc) Research and Development Laboratory鈥�, the mini传媒 R&D laboratory will be established through the 顿翱厂罢鈥扬颁滨贰贰搁顿鈥檚 Institution Development Program (IDP). The project aims to use Natural Language Processing in preservation and protection of languages and will focus on three Mindanao languages: Manobo, Mansaka, and Kalagan. The project leader, Kristine Mae M. Adlaon, shared that 鈥楴atural Language Processing’ is a subfield of Artificial Intelligence that focuses on building intelligent systems that understand languages.听

On 23 September 2021, mini传媒 President Sr. Marissa R. Viri, RVM signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with 顿翱厂罢鈥扬颁滨贰贰搁顿 Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit. It was stated in the MOA that DOST-PCIEERD shall provide grant in the amount of P5,000,000.00 for 24 months with an initial grant of P5,000,000.00 to be expended based on the scheduled release of funds and as allocated in the approved Project Line-Item Budget.

Sr. Viri said 鈥淲ith the increasing number of endangered languages, it is the goal of this laboratory to intensify research and development works that involve the collection, digitalization, storage, and dissemination of language resources, as well as the development of task-specific trained applications such as Machine Translation and Dialogue Systems.鈥� She also shared, 鈥渕ini传媒 through MinNa commits to support all endeavors that will help save and preserve our endangered languages. We hope that through MinNa, more students, faculties, and industry partners will be collaborating to achieve the objectives set forth by the laboratory.鈥�

Speaking for 顿翱厂罢鈥扬颁滨贰贰搁顿, Dr. Paringit explained that the IDP has been working towards establishing at least one IDP per region. He added, 鈥淥n the regional Research Institution, we have been supporting our country鈥檚 regions through our regional consortia. We deem it highly vital that every region here in the Philippines should be heard and visible in creating more opportunities and making progress more inclusive.鈥�

Through video conferencing, on 21 September 2021, awarding of winners was presented by the Korea Energy Agency director, Jung Sung Moon. The theme was 鈥淚nnovation and creativity towards the sustainable and resilient energy system in ASEAN鈥�. According to the organizers, the award was to recognize students鈥� valuable contributions to nation-building, sustainable development, and energy transition in the ASEAN region.

听

It is Southeast Asia鈥檚 highest reward to encourage and bring about recognition of greater private sector participation and interest in energy development of the ASEAN region in partnership with the public sector,鈥� said the organizers. The award consists of four categories: ASEAN Coal Awards, ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards, ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Awards, and the ASEAN Excellence in Energy Management by Individual 2021.

听

When asked about the award, Dumapia鈥檚 coach, Ms. Gladys Lumantas said that it was an unexpected win due to some technicalities. She believed, however, that the participants created excellent outputs in the video-making category. They thought that they did not meet the deadline and they weren鈥檛 sure if they complied with the registration process. Fortunately, their output was accepted.

听

鈥淭his award brings pride and honor to the University. It brought inspiration to achieve the University’s mission, which is to produce globally competitive Ignacian Marian learners. This award motivated Troy and other students to manifest diligence, patience, creativity, and competence in everything they do that can challenge them to be better individuals鈥�, she added.听

An Autonomous Status is the highest recognition that CHED awards to a higher learning institution. According to mini传媒 President Sr. Marissa R. Aside from mini传媒, Davao Region (XI) hosts three other HEIs enjoying Autonomous Status out of 47 Private HEIs. Some of the benefits of being an HEI with autonomous status are the exemption from the issuance of Special Order (S.O) for graduates and becoming a priority on receiving subsidies and other financial incentives and assistance from CHED. It also gains the privilege to determine and prescribe the curricular programs to achieve global competence; and the privilege to offer new courses or programs in the undergraduate and graduate levels.听

Following the guidelines set in Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2021-001 issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Department of Health (DOH), mini传媒 has opened its Bonifacio Campus to its 4th year Bachelor of Science Medical Laboratory (BSMLS) students.

According to mini传媒 President Sr. Marissa R. Viri, RVM, the limited reopening was 鈥渃onsidered to enhance the students鈥� technical competence in the performance of clinical laboratory tests in aid of diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases vis-脿-vis biosafety and waste management鈥�. She explained that 鈥渉ands-on practice is necessary to achieve this and the other qualities a graduate of BSMLS should possess鈥�.听 She further said that 鈥渢he limited face-to-face internship held at the in-campus Clinical Laboratory and Training Center, the only one in Davao Region, is CHED accredited and has a DOH License to Operate as a training laboratory.听 The BS Nursing also applied for limited face-to-face classes for fourth-year students at the Fr. Selga campus and awaiting the Certificate of Authority from the CHED Regional Office.鈥�

The objectives of the joint circular state, 鈥淭his issuance shall serve as a guide for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) intending to hold limited face-to-face classes during the COVID-19 pandemic and are willing to assume the responsibilities for the reopening of their campuses based on their capability to comply with health and safety protocols, to retrofit their facilities, and to get the support of their stakeholders.鈥澨� 听

It can be recalled that all classes were suspended in March 2020 due to public health emergency to mitigate the transmission of the disease. Since then, classes have been held in flexible learning terms.听

For the gradual reopening of campuses of HEIs for limited face-to-face classes, the following health-related degree programs deemed necessary in providing additional support to the health system during the pandemic have been prioritized: Medicine, Nursing, Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science, Physical Therapy, Midwifery, Public Health.

Among the 120 AUN-QA associate members in Asia, mini传媒 is granted recognition. mini传媒 is one of the few universities to receive such prided certification in the Philippine archipelago and the first outside the National Capital Region (NCR).

The report disclosed to the Institutional Quality Assurance Officer, Dr. Jo-Ann Y. Solomon, on January 11, 2021, divulged that the four programme level assessment, namely Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration obtained an over-all rating of Adequate as Expected. This means that all the 11 criteria: Expected Learning Outcomes, Programme Specification, Programme Structure and Content, Teaching and Learning Approach, Student Assessment, Academic Staff Support, Support Staff Quality, Student Quality and Support, Facilities and Infrastructure, Quality Enhancement, and Output show consistent results as expected. The report is based on the information provided in the self-assessment report (SAR), evidence, virtual site tour, and interviews with selected stakeholders, including academic and support staff, students, alumni, and employers.

The online/remote assessment visit happened last November 23-27, 2020, where eight ASEAN assessors perused the abovesaid criteria and verified the claims in the SAR concerning observed practices, existing supporting documents, and virtual interviews among stakeholders.

To further improve the University鈥檚 quality of education, the University President, S. Ma. Marissa R. Viri, RVM, with much gratitude, spoke that she is thankful for the collaborative efforts exerted by the members of the academic community headed by the Vice-President for Academics and Institutional Quality Assurance Officer, Dr. Jo-Ann Y. Solomon, to look into the recommendations and find necessary actions to address areas needed for improvement.

The said certification is an additional gem to mini传媒鈥檚 glory, which epitomizes the University鈥檚 vision and importance of quality in higher education to develop a holistic quality assurance system to raise academic standards and enhance teaching, research, production, and service.
